n8n implementation and consulting: the instance, the team, and AI agents that build with you.
I implement n8n for companies: I set up the instance on your server, create accounts for the team, harden it and connect AI agents through n8n-mcp. Then I run weekly sessions where the team learns to build automations itself, with an agent and with a review before anything reaches production.
- 5.0 / 5official n8n Expert Partner · reviews in the official n8n expert directory
- 190,000+users of n8n-mcp, which AI agents use to build workflows on your instance
- since May 2026weekly sessions at an e-commerce client: finance, warehouse and sales build on their own
Getting n8n running on a server takes an evening. What separates an instance the whole company works on from a tutorial instance shows up later: invites that never arrive because nobody configured mail, an editor open to the whole internet, webhooks without authentication, an encryption key with no copy, and an upgrade after which the database will not start.
I set n8n up as a company tool, not one person's side project. Server, accounts, hardening and backups are step one. Step two is connecting AI agents through n8n-mcp, the tool I built and more than 190,000 people now use. Your team then builds workflows by describing them in plain words, and the agent checks the configuration of every node before it saves anything.
What the implementation covers
n8n on your server
Self-hosted n8n in Docker behind a reverse proxy with HTTPS, on your infrastructure or a server we choose together. Queue mode with workers when the volume calls for it. Backups of the database and the encryption key kept off the server, and an upgrade plan so you never jump many versions at once.
Accounts and access for the team
SMTP configured so invites and password resets work by email, an owner account with 2FA, an account for every person and folder structure in place before the first hundred workflows exist. I also tell you plainly which features for larger teams sit in n8n's paid plans and whether you need them.
Instance hardening
Only ports 80 and 443 exposed, the editor behind a VPN or Cloudflare Access when the instance reaches sensitive systems, authentication on every webhook, and credentials stored in n8n rather than inside workflows. The same checklist I describe in the guide on securing self-hosted n8n.
AI agents connected to n8n
n8n-mcp and n8n-skills set up so every person on the team can connect their own AI assistant, Claude for example, to the instance. The agent finds the nodes, builds the workflow and validates it before saving. A person describes what should happen and checks the result.
Office hours for the team
A weekly hour with the people who automate inside their own departments. One topic per session, an exercise on their own instance, and real blockers first. A short note after every session that a new team member can use too.
Audit and maintenance of an existing instance
When n8n is already running: a review of ports, webhooks, credentials, backups and version, error handling in every workflow, and a list of fixes to apply. After that I can take over upgrades and office hours where I review the team's work.
First stage: n8n on your server and one working integration
One fixed-price stage instead of a proposal covering ten processes. Afterwards you have an instance ready for the whole team and a first process in production, and we both know whether we want to continue.
- Self-hosted n8n on your server, with HTTPS, backups and team accounts
- Hardening from the checklist: ports, webhooks, credentials, encryption key
- n8n-mcp connected to the instance so the team can build with an AI agent
- One integration chosen together, with error handling and alerts, brought to production
Who it is for
- Companies that have chosen n8n and want it on their own server, because data cannot leave the company or the cost cannot grow with executions.
- Teams where n8n runs on one person's laptop or server and needs to become a tool for the whole department.
- Companies that want automations built by people in the business, with AI agents helping, rather than by an outside vendor.
- Organisations with a running instance where nobody is sure about its security, backups and upgrades.
How I run it
- 01Infrastructure conversation
We settle where the server lives, who needs access, which systems n8n will connect and what data will pass through it. That decides whether the editor stays public or goes behind a VPN.
- 02Instance and hardening
I set up n8n with mail, accounts, backups and hardening. The encryption key and admin access are handed to you; they do not stay with me.
- 03Agents and the first process
I connect n8n-mcp and build the first integration with an AI agent together with you, from description to production. It doubles as the team's first lesson.
- 04The team builds, I review
Weekly office hours. The team brings its own workflows and blockers, and I review what is about to reach production until the review is no longer needed.
A team that builds on its own
The goal of the implementation is a team that does not need me for every workflow. At an e-commerce client I have run weekly sessions since May 2026. The team comes from finance, warehouse and sales, not from engineering.
- One topic per session and a hands-on exercise on each participant's own instance: error handling, sub-workflow contracts, Data Tables, webhook and credential security, agents with tools.
- Blockers come first: whoever brings a real problem gets it solved in the session, and the plan moves a week.
- A one-page note after every session, so a new team member never needs a live repeat.
- Results after a dozen sessions: a warehouse team member built their own app for expiry-date stocktaking, sales has automated reporting on commercial decisions, every production workflow has an error workflow with alerts, and the team runs its own agents on Telegram.

Guides
Where to host n8n, how to secure it and how to connect AI agents to it.
n8n self-hosted or cloud: what does it cost and which should you choose?
n8n Cloud starts at €20 a month for 2,500 workflow executions, and the price grows with executions. Self-hosted n8n in the free Community Edition has no execution limit, costs what the server and maintenance time cost, and keeps data inside the company. For companies handling documents, personal data or larger volumes I recommend your own server. Cloud makes sense at the start, when nobody in the company wants to run a server.
Read the guideHow do you secure self-hosted n8n on Docker?
Self-hosted n8n holds the keys to every system it automates, so secure it like a server full of company passwords. The minimum is ports 80 and 443 only, behind a reverse proxy with HTTPS, an owner account with 2FA, an encryption key backed up off the server, and authentication on every webhook. At the maximum level the editor is reachable only over VPN, and the only traffic from the internet is authenticated webhooks through a gateway with a WAF.
Read the guideHow do you connect Claude Code to n8n through MCP, and what can the agent do then?
Claude Code connects to n8n through the n8n-mcp MCP server: one terminal command adds the server, and the agent gets documentation for every n8n node, configuration validation and workflow operations on your instance. From then on it can build, fix and test a workflow from a description in plain language. More than 190,000 people use n8n-mcp, and its telemetry shows agents spend four times more calls reading and checking than writing.
Read the guideHow do you install n8n-skills, and why does an AI agent need skills for n8n?
n8n-skills is a set of 14 skills plus a skill router and a hooks layer that teach an AI agent the right patterns for building n8n workflows through the n8n-mcp server. You install it with one command in Claude Code, as zip files in Claude.ai and ChatGPT, or as a plugin in Codex. An agent without skills guesses at syntax and puts instructions in the wrong place; an agent with skills sticks to proven patterns and conventions.
Read the guideWhy is my n8n workflow not working, and how do I find out?
Most n8n failures fall into three groups: an agent or client can't connect to the instance, a node that used to work suddenly breaks, or the workflow goes silent and nobody finds out. Executions shows you what happened, but not what never ran. Without a separate error workflow, silence is the default state: nobody checks executions every day, so a failure waits until someone happens to open the tab.
Read the guideFrequently asked questions
- How much does an n8n implementation cost?
- The first stage costs €1,000 to €2,000 and covers self-hosted n8n on your server with accounts, hardening and backups, n8n-mcp connected, and one integration brought to production. After that we work in stages or through office hours. Self-hosted n8n itself has no per-execution fees: you pay for the server and for the actual AI model calls.
- n8n cloud or self-hosted?
- For companies handling personal data, documents or larger volumes I recommend self-hosting: data stays inside the company and the cost does not grow with executions. n8n cloud makes sense at the start when nobody wants to be responsible for a server. The guide on self-hosted versus cloud compares the costs of both.
- Is the free version of n8n enough for a company?
- Usually, yes. Community Edition on your own server has no cap on executions or workflows, and every user can turn on 2FA for themselves. Some features for larger teams, such as enforcing 2FA for everyone or SSO login, sit in the paid plans. Before the implementation I check with you whether you need them.
- How does the team build workflows with an AI agent?
- Each person connects their own AI assistant, Claude for example, to the instance through n8n-mcp. They describe what the workflow should do, and the agent finds the right nodes, configures them and validates the workflow before saving. A person checks the result and tests it on real data, and only what passed review reaches production.
- Can you take over an instance someone else set up?
- Yes. I start with an audit: ports, editor exposure, webhooks, credentials, backups, version and error handling in the workflows. You get a list of fixes ordered by urgency, and then I can apply them and take over upgrades or office hours.
- How do I choose an n8n expert or consultant?
- Check three things: whether they are listed in the official n8n expert directory with client reviews, whether they show implementations running in production rather than demos, and whether they can leave your team self-sufficient. I am an official n8n Expert Partner rated 5.0 out of 5 in the directory and the creator of n8n-mcp, and my clients now grow their automations with their own teams.
- Will the team cope without you?
- That is the goal. Office hours are part of the engagement precisely so the company does not end up depending on me. At some clients the team now builds most automations itself, including its own apps and agents.
